What on Earth is this .CMF file??

CMF stands for Creative Music File, a type of music file format introduced with the Sound Blaster card by Creative Labs, before MS-Windows was even very popular. Without going into great detail, it is very much like a .MID (MIDI) file, with extra embedded data to define the instruments for the FM synth chip (OPL-2).
CMF files have not recently been sighted, so you have two options:
  1. I put together a ZIP file with the neccessary stuff to play it on some systems. Unzip it to a directory and type RUNCYCMF to kick off the .BAT file. This, of course, needs to be done at the DOS prompt, while no other program is taking over your FM sound card. (eg - a windows driver). You may need to alter your autoexec.bat as similar to FOO.LST
  2. I also made a WAV file of the original music, but this unzips to about 5MB in size. This can be played with standard Windows multimedia tools (22 KHz, PCM 8-bit mono)
  3. I Finally encoded it into an .MP3 file
